Humanity Might Be Your Strongest Marketing Strategy

The best marketing isn’t always about products or selling. Sometimes, it’s simply about people and the relationships you build with them.

The best marketing sometimes doesn’t feel like marketing at all.

One of the most powerful insurance campaigns ever made barely talked about insurance.

Thai Life Insurance, together with Ogilvy & Mather Bangkok, created the famous “Unsung Hero” campaign around its “Believe in Good” philosophy.

Instead of focusing on fear, risk, policies or financial products, they showed something much more powerful: people.

A man helping a stranger.
Feeding a dog.
Giving something without expecting anything in return.

Small acts of kindness that slowly grow into something much bigger.

They weren’t selling insurance.

They were selling hope, humanity and the feeling that life has value.

And that is exactly why it worked.

Because almost every great sales or marketing strategy eventually comes back to the same thing: relationships between people.

You can have the best funnel, the smartest automation, the strongest AI, the most precise targeting and the most advanced CRM in the world.

But at some point, there is still one human being deciding whether they trust another human being.

That’s also how I look at B2B sales.

People don’t want to feel like a lead sitting in your pipeline.

They want to feel seen, understood and remembered.

Marketing can create attention.
Content can build familiarity.
Sales can create opportunities.

But relationships are what eventually create business.

Maybe that’s why “Unsung Hero” still resonates years later.

It reminds us that behind every company, every campaign, every sale and every LinkedIn profile, there is simply a person trying to connect with another person.

And perhaps the best marketing is the kind that doesn’t feel like marketing at all.
