You’re So Busy Building Your Future That You Forget to Live Today

Entrepreneurship is about goals and ambition, but it’s also about enjoying the journey and appreciating the moments that make life meaningful.

What’s the point of building an amazing future if you forget to enjoy the amazing life you’re already living?

As an entrepreneur, you’re always running.

Always working towards the next goal, the next milestone, the next success. You’re so focused on building your future that sometimes you forget to enjoy the present.

Last month, I recorded a podcast on an airplane about exactly this. About living in the moment and learning to appreciate the journey instead of constantly chasing the destination.

And then I saw this old man. He truly inspires me. I want to be like him.

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift. Enjoy it.”

And they both start crying. Beautiful.

Because imagine being 101 years old, looking back at all those years that have passed. All the things you’ve experienced, all the dreams you’ve chased and everything you’ve accomplished.

What would you remember?

The KPIs you achieved? The new clients you signed? The business successes? The failures and setbacks?

Or would you remember the moments you shared with the people you love? The laughter, the adventures, the conversations, the hugs and all those little experiences that made life worth living?

I think we all know the answer.

And that’s something I increasingly realize as an entrepreneur. I absolutely love building businesses, setting ambitious goals and pushing myself to achieve more. I don’t want to stop doing any of that.

But I also want to enjoy every single step along the way. Because what’s the point of building an amazing future if you forget to experience the amazing life you’re already living?

One day, all we’ll have left are memories.

So make them count.

Today is a gift. Enjoy it, spend time with the people you love, chase your dreams and do the things you’ve always wanted to do, while you still can.

Because life doesn’t start when you’ve finally reached your goals.
