You only have to say that to an entrepreneur once. 😂
It’s the Glasgow Warriors’ motto and it could just as easily be mine.
So I took it quite literally and decided to go for a little sprint in front of the stands to get the fans cheering.
The fans were laughing.
Security was slightly less enthusiastic, although I’m pretty sure I spotted a smile on his face too. 😉
What an atmosphere.
Sitting among the locals with a group of entrepreneurs and experiencing such a big part of Scottish sporting culture, you can really feel that “whatever it takes” runs deep here.
Rugby is a fascinating sport.
They call it “a hooligan’s game played by gentlemen,” and I love the mentality behind it.
You compete fiercely, give everything you have and fight for every metre, while still respecting the people in front of you.
That’s how I believe we should approach entrepreneurship too.
You need to go all in, take initiative and sometimes push the boundaries a little.
Like deciding that the crowd could use some encouragement and appointing yourself their unofficial warm-up act. 😉
But ambition comes with responsibility.
You decide what kind of entrepreneur you want to be, what your values are and where you draw the line.
Then you hold yourself to those standards, even when taking a shortcut would be easier.
Whatever it takes, with respect for the people around you.
What a fantastic experience to share with this group.
A little rugby, a little sprint and plenty of laughter with the locals.
