The people make the experience

From 5,000 meters in the air to the Finnish wilderness, it’s who you share it with that matters

You remember the challenge. You remember the people.

Whatever extreme sport you do, in the end, it’s the people you share the experience with that matter most.

I just jumped out of a plane from 5,000 meters with Wim de Gier at Skydive Teuge, including around 1.5 minutes of freefall.

Completely insane.

But when I think back to today, it’s not just the jump, the speed or the view that stays with me.

It’s the people around me.

From the moment we arrived, there was this incredible sense of team spirit. People shaking hands, giving fist bumps, laughing, encouraging each other and sharing the nerves and excitement.

And that changes everything.

I felt exactly the same during my hike through Finland last week. The challenge was amazing and the nature was unforgettable, but in the end, it was the people who made the experience truly special.

I think life and entrepreneurship work exactly the same way.

We spend so much time focusing on the achievement, the challenge and the destination, while the memories we take with us are usually tied to the people who were standing next to us.

So challenge yourself. Do things that scare you. Step outside your comfort zone.

But most importantly, create memories with amazing people.

Because those are the stories you’ll still be telling 10 years from now.

Thank you Wim de Gier, Erwin van den Braak, Arjan Musch, Demie Landsman, the cameraman and everyone else who made this experience so special.

Show me the magic in real life 🪄
