Suddenly, I found myself face to face with a hawk 🦅
Just like that.
Right in my own garden.
It was standing there with its prey under its feet, looking straight at me.
At first, I thought: is that a mouse?
Nope.
Probably a small bird.
And the crazy thing is, you almost never get to see one this close.
Hawks are not something you come across every day in the Netherlands. They’re fast, elusive birds of prey, usually flying low between trees, bushes and houses — gone before you even realize what you just saw.
So seeing one sitting quietly in my garden, prey under its feet, giving me a chance to actually look at it…
That was pretty special.
They’re also fully protected and mainly hunt sparrows, tits and finches. With their short wings and long tail, they’re built for incredibly fast, precise manoeuvring.
And suddenly, this impressive animal is sitting just a few metres away from you.
But really, this is also just a little glimpse into life at home for me.
I work hard.
From appointments to calls.
From meetings to events.
Always thinking about business, people, content and new plans.
But when it comes down to it, there’s one thing that matters most.
Coming home.
Enjoying life with the kids.
Just being home.
In the garden.
Enjoying those little moments you could never have planned.
So naturally, I was standing there watching and filming until my daughter Ayla came outside.
She wanted to have a look too.
And that’s when he flew away. 😅
There goes the hawk.
But that moment with her ended up being so much more special than the bird itself.
Because no matter how busy life gets, these are the moments I’m doing it all for.
What’s your simple little moment of happiness during the day?
