No shower for five days. Just swimming in freezing water.
When all you miss is a couch, you know you’re seriously out of your comfort zone.
Picture this.
No mattress. Just an airbed.
No room. Just an open wooden cabin, with freezing wind in your face and reindeer — and maybe a bear — somewhere in the bushes behind you.
No blanket. Just a sleeping bag rated for -5 degrees.
No chairs or sofas. Just pieces of wood to sit on.
And last but not least: 8 to 10 hours of hiking every single day.
Sounds challenging?
It was.
But it was amazing. Eye-opening.
This is life.
It puts everything into perspective.
You start appreciating things you normally don’t even think about and discover that you’re capable of much more than you thought.
I really, really thought I would never be able to do something like this.
But then there was the food.
Amazing, comfortable, almost luxurious food, while sitting on a wooden block with what felt like a three-course restaurant meal on your knees.
What a paradox.
But in the end, my biggest lesson had nothing to do with the cold, the hiking or the lack of comfort.
You can only get through something like this with people around you.
Fun. Support. Company.
Someone who helps when you’re struggling, makes you laugh when you’re exhausted and pushes you when you think you’re done.
That’s what makes us human.
And that’s life.
And business.
The people around you have a huge influence on how successful, happy and strong you become.
So choose them carefully.
And cherish the people you already have.
