Sometimes Working Less Gives You Less Energy. 😅

We often assume more free time automatically means more happiness. Sometimes you only discover what you’re missing when you slow down.

“Sometimes the work you want to escape is what gives you energy.”

Last year, I stopped doing sales.

After years of always being “on”, chasing opportunities and constantly talking to people, I thought I was done with it.

I wanted more rest.

More time to enjoy life.

More free time.

And that sounds great, right?

But somehow, I became less happy.

More free time also meant more time to think.

More time to overthink.

And sometimes, simply more time to feel down.

Yesterday I had a call with Maarten, and we ended up talking about something I didn’t really expect.

I was needed in sales again, so I started doing it again.

And you know what?

I actually love it.

Maybe I’m just a workaholic.

Maybe I need a certain amount of chaos and energy around me.

But working makes me happy.

You get into a flow.

You meet more people.

You experience more.

You have wins and losses.

And somehow, life just happens more.

I’m almost forty now, and last year I was simply tired of working.

So in a way, I took a year “off”.

But instead of giving me more energy, it actually gave me less.

And now I’m busy again.

Doing sales again.

Meeting people again.

Experiencing things again.

And I feel more like myself.

Life is weird, right?

Sometimes the thing you think you need to escape from is exactly the thing that gives you energy.

Do you recognize this?

Show me the magic in real life 🪄
