Sleeping When You Don’t Know What’s Outside. 🐻

Sometimes courage isn’t knowing what will happen. It’s staying calm when you have no control over what’s happening around you.

Courage isn’t the absence of fear. It’s staying calm when you feel it.

I slept in this open cabin last night.

Below zero degrees, with the wind blowing straight into my face.

I had my head completely buried inside my sleeping bag.

Just a few seconds after this video, I heard something behind my head.

Branches breaking.
Leaves moving.

Something was walking around in the dark.

And it definitely wasn’t a rat or a frog.

It was a big animal.

Maybe a bear?

Probably a reindeer.

At least, that’s what I kept telling myself.

Because somehow, I still had to fall asleep.

So there I was.

In my sleeping bag, in Finland, sleeping in an open cabin where a bear could literally just walk inside.

I woke up at 6.

And this is an experience I’ll remember forever.

I’m learning a very different kind of entrepreneurship here.

Yesterday, I looked my fear straight in the eyes when we came face-to-face with a reindeer.

But lying there in the dark, listening to a big animal moving around outside and wondering whether a bear might decide to pay us a visit…

That’s another level.

Sometimes courage isn’t about having no fear.

It’s about accepting that you don’t control everything, staying calm and still deciding to go to sleep.

Luckily, whatever it was decided to stay outside. 😉
