Why freedom is about more than business and money

Today we reflect on our freedom.

This video is from 1980. Back then, the Netherlands had been free for 35 years.
Today, we have been free for 81 years.

And honestly: nowadays we can truly feel what freedom means.

We live in a time where many people complain. About rules. About taxes. About what could be better. And yes, things can always improve.

But let’s also not forget where we actually live.

The Netherlands is a beautiful country. Maybe one of the best countries to live and do business in.
Still, you see entrepreneurs leaving for countries with more favorable tax systems. Understandable. But sometimes we forget what we already have here.

Freedom means so much more than just financial freedom.

Freedom is:
• Running your business the way you want
• Working where and how you want
• Saying what you think
• Living the life you choose

I notice that myself, especially as a father.

My son has autism and so much is arranged for him here. That is not something to take for granted. That is special. That is freedom in practice.

And yes, moments like that make me realize that I happily pay my taxes as an entrepreneur.

Today, let’s not focus on what is missing, but on what is already there.

Let’s be grateful.
Let’s celebrate freedom.
