A Great LinkedIn Profile Does More Than Impress

Your profile shouldn’t just help people accept your connection request. It should guide them toward taking action.

Your profile isn’t a business card. It’s a path to action.

There are really only two reasons to properly optimize your LinkedIn profile.

The first one is simple:

You want more people to accept your connection requests.

Before someone clicks ‘accept’, they’ll often take a quick look at your name, role, photo and profile.

In just a few seconds, they’re deciding:

Is this person relevant to me?

That’s why I believe you should position yourself at the same level as your target audience.

Not by pretending to be bigger than you are, but by clearly showing that you speak their language, understand their world and have the right level of expertise.

Talking to entrepreneurs?

Show them you understand entrepreneurship.

Talking to C-level executives?

Make sure your profile communicates at that same level through your role, expertise and overall presence.

But then there’s reason number two.

Because once someone actually lands on your profile…

What happens next?

That’s where the real neuromarketing begins for me.

What do they look at first?

What sparks their curiosity?

Where do you want them to click next?

What does your banner say?
What does your headline communicate?
What have you put in your Featured section?

And most importantly:

What’s your call to action?

A good LinkedIn profile isn’t just a digital business card.

It’s a carefully designed journey that takes someone from curiosity to action.

And that part?

That’s next-level expertise.

It was a lot of fun talking about this on the Booming Marketing Leaders podcast.

Thank you, Jennifer Delano for the invitation and for such a great conversation! 🙌
