This inspires me!
At 61, DonnaJean Wilde broke the world record for the longest abdominal plank by a woman.
5 hours.
Just think about that for a second.
Five hours in a plank position. At 61 years old.
In 1.5 weeks, I’ll run the 42 km Amsterdam Marathon. And hopefully I’ll finish in slightly less time than DonnaJean spent planking. 😂
But when my legs start hurting somewhere around kilometre 30 and my mind tells me I’ve had enough, I know who I’m going to think about.
This lady.
Because if she can plank for five hours at 61, I can keep putting one foot in front of the other.
I’m 39 now. On October 18, I’ll have been 40 for exactly one day.
Sometimes I feel old.
But I’m not.
And 61 isn’t old either.
A lot of it comes down to how you look at yourself and what you believe is still possible.
And isn’t that exactly the same in entrepreneurship?
Whatever you truly believe you can’t do, you probably won’t do.
Whatever you believe you can do, at least gives you a chance to make it happen.
Of course, mindset alone doesn’t build a business, run a marathon or hold a plank for five hours.
You still need to train, work, fail, learn and keep going.
But your mindset determines whether you even start.
We put far too many imaginary limits on ourselves because of age, experience or fear.
“I’m too old.”
“I can’t do that.”
“It’s too late.”
“That’s not for me.”
Nonsense.
At 39, I’m fitter than I’ve ever been, and next week I’m going to attempt my first marathon.
DonnaJean just reminded me again that your age doesn’t decide what you can still achieve.
Your mindset has a much bigger say in that.
Five hours of planking at 61.
I really have no excuse now. 😂
Let’s go! 🏃♂️
