You Don’t Have to Be an Influencer to Become the Go-To Expert in Your Niche

Personal branding isn’t about constantly putting yourself in the spotlight. Sharing valuable knowledge consistently can build authority without selfies or videos.

You don’t have to be in the spotlight to stay top of mind.

You don’t have to be an influencer to become the go-to expert in your niche!

In fact, 90–95% of people, including our clients, have absolutely no desire to constantly share personal stories, photos or videos of themselves on LinkedIn.

And that’s perfectly fine!

Because personal branding is really about two things: valuable content and consistency.

Imagine sharing one to three insightful posts about your field every week. An interesting news story, a blog, your perspective on a market development, a visual or an informative carousel.

And you keep doing that for one or two years.

People in your industry will know exactly who you are, what you know and when to turn to you. You build authority, become recognizable and stay top of mind with your target audience.

All without having to share a single photo or video of yourself.

Of course, it can work even better when you also share personal experiences, create videos and show people who you are. This often helps you reach more people with each post and build a personal connection faster. Do that consistently for a year or two, and those relationships can develop even more quickly.

But it has to be authentic. You need to enjoy it, and it needs to feel right for you. Because if you have to force yourself to get in front of the camera every week, LinkedIn can quickly become an obligation rather than an opportunity.

And it really doesn’t have to be that way.

I believe personal branding has simply become part of the job for founders, directors, entrepreneurs and sales professionals. After all, you represent your expertise, and your network is one of your most valuable business assets.

But that doesn’t mean you need to put yourself in the spotlight all the time.

You can simply become the blogger of your own LinkedIn profile. Someone who shares valuable knowledge every week, explains industry developments and helps others better understand their field.

It works. And it’s achievable for almost everyone!

The best part? Both approaches help you build the same things: trust, recognition and relationships within your niche.

So don’t let all the influencers you see every day put you off. You don’t have to become an influencer to build a successful personal brand.

Sharing knowledge and staying consistent: that’s where it starts.

Now I’m curious: who are you, or who do you want to be?

The influencer-expert in your niche, or the subject-matter expert in your niche?
