Even if you think you’ve missed your last chance, try one more time.
I’ve always believed in this.
In sales, you might think a prospect isn’t going to respond anymore. Send that one last message anyway.
In business, you might think an opportunity has passed, someone has chosen another option, or you’re simply too late. Make that call anyway.
You might have fallen out with someone and think things will never be right again. Take the first step anyway.
You might publish a post that gets no traction and assume nobody cares about what you have to say. Post again tomorrow.
We jump to conclusions far too quickly. This was my last chance. This doesn’t work. That person isn’t interested. It’s over.
But very often, we don’t actually know that.
Maybe the timing was wrong. Maybe someone never saw your message. Maybe they needed to experience something else first. Maybe you still had something to learn yourself. Maybe all it takes is one more attempt.
Of course, you need to know when to stop. But I believe we lose far more opportunities by giving up too early than by trying one time too many.
A large part of my business has been built on follow-up. Not on one perfect pitch, one message, one meeting or one post. But on keeping things moving, maintaining relationships and trying again when the timing feels right.
So if you think you’ve missed your last chance today:
Try one more time.
You never know which attempt will be the one that changes everything.
What’s something you once thought was over, only to discover there was still another chance?
