AI Makes Us More Efficient. But at What Cost? 🤖💸

Fewer people and more revenue sounds great. Until you realize how much money, time and attention it takes to use AI properly.

“AI doesn’t require less attention. It might require more.”

With 10 fewer people, we generate 40% more revenue.

All because of AI.

But that’s where the nuance comes in.

AI can’t simply take over everything.

You can’t just say: let AI write all our posts, create all our visuals and replace all the work people are doing.

We actually have someone working full-time who does almost nothing but test, compare and implement AI tools.

And that costs money too.

In fact, I think we’re now spending almost as much on AI tools as we used to spend on those 10 people.

So you can’t just look at what AI gives you.

You also have to look at what it costs you.

In money and in time.

New tools appear every week, and tools disappear just as quickly.

You spend six weeks learning one tool, getting it properly integrated into your processes, and then something else comes along that looks better, faster or cheaper.

And we haven’t even talked about all those forgotten subscriptions.

Tools someone signed up for at some point, charging €20, €50 or €200 every month, while nobody is actually using them anymore.

At this point, keeping track of all our subscriptions has almost become a job in itself.

Are we still using this?

Is it actually delivering value?

Is there something better now?

AI can do an incredible amount, and I’m still hugely enthusiastic about it.

But before you know it, all those tools, experiments and subscriptions can actually make you less profitable.

So AI doesn’t require less attention.

It might actually require more.
