Raphael (in white) is a friend of mine who lost his leg in Ukraine in January. He stepped on a mine.
It happened shortly after this video where he had briefly returned to celebrate New Year with us.
Since then, war no longer feels like something far away.
It has a face now.
A name.
That’s why I said back then: don’t go.
And now, one of my clients is going there.
For humanitarian reasons.
Bringing sleeping bags, winter jackets, thermal clothing and power banks to families with children living in freezing conditions.
And honestly: it’s conflicting.
It scares me.
But it also makes me silent.
Because while I think I would not go, I also know this:
If people with integrity and conscience stop helping, then who will remain?
I would not go myself. That’s true.
But I am grateful there are people who do.
Not out of heroism, but out of humanity.
Because doing nothing is also a choice sometimes.
And not always the right one.
That’s why I’m contributing to the fundraiser.
If you can contribute necessary supplies: thank you.
Truly thank you.
