I stole a post.
And it went viral!
“Is it really that important to go viral?”
“And going viral with current events, what does that have to do with your business?”
Valid questions I received during the Online LinkedIn Masterclass for the network of Meriam Slijkerman, High End Business Coach.
What an amazing group and what great energy!
Of course, we talked about optimizing your LinkedIn profile.
Honestly? A heavily underestimated element.
You can create up to 80% difference in conversion.
When you go to a B2B networking event, you don’t show up in slippers and swimwear either.
After that, we worked on Boolean search on LinkedIn.
Who knows what Boolean search is?
And of course, we talked about content.
About sharing knowledge.
About going viral.
But why would you want to go viral?
Not because it’s the goal.
But because it’s an exercise.
An exercise to put yourself in your audience’s shoes.
When a post goes viral, it hits something. It resonates.
You train yourself to understand what’s happening in the market.
And that’s what you need to be seen as an expert.
Not just posting what you sell.
But sharing what you know.
Your vision.
The problems you solve.
Yes, you can go viral with current events.
But always connect it to your business.
See yourself as the columnist of your own profile.
You are the opinion leader. You are allowed to have a point of view.
As long as it’s relevant for your audience.
And the best part?
When you discover trends within your prospect’s field.
But I guess you’re curious.
Whose post did I steal?
It started with a message from Frans van Leeuwen:
“I’m going viral!”
That evening I asked him:
Can I use your post and improve it? Just to test if LinkedIn really is a science?
“Of course,” he said.
What followed were two days full of screenshots.
Who performed better?
And yes… my post performed just as well as his.
Conclusion?
LinkedIn is a science.
If you know the ingredients, you can play it perfectly.
What made this post so strong?
Timing.
And a great story: an amateur who wins.
We love that.
So… who won?
