Our former colleague Benjamin came to support us during the Amsterdam Marathon. And believe me, you can’t cheer someone on more passionately than this guy did!
Shouting, cheering, running alongside us, high-fiving, filming. Everything!
It literally brought tears to my eyes.
I still had about 5 or 6 kilometres to go. Almost there, but I was really struggling at that point. It was tough. Really tough.
And then Benjamin showed up and gave me exactly the boost I needed. So incredibly special.
This is what teams do for each other. Even former colleagues. Because once you’ve built a genuine connection, it doesn’t just disappear when someone leaves the company.
And that’s what made this entire marathon so beautiful.
For 42 kilometres, people were shouting your name, cheering you on and encouraging you to keep going. Thousands of people standing in the cold for hours, simply to support others.
I actually think the real heroes were standing on the sidelines.
What an atmosphere. And what beautiful creatures we humans are.
We simply can’t do it without each other.
Not in sports, not in business and definitely not in life.
