Boxing looks like fighting.
In reality, it’s thinking under pressure.
It’s technique, but technique means very little if you’re too tired to execute it.
It’s strength, but strength alone won’t help you if the other person is faster.
It’s speed, but speed without timing and strategy can get you into trouble very quickly.
And then there’s the intensity.
Your heart rate is through the roof, your body starts hurting, your arms get heavy…
But your mind still has to stay calm.
You have to keep thinking, keep watching and keep adapting.
That’s what I love about boxing.
It’s pain, competition, strategy, strength, speed and discipline.
All happening at the same time.
You learn very quickly that simply working harder isn’t enough.
You have to work smarter, stay composed and understand what’s happening in front of you.
There aren’t many sports where you learn so much about yourself in such a short amount of time.
And I’m still learning every single training session.
Big thanks to my coach Biondi Pikientio for pushing me, correcting me and teaching me that boxing is about so much more than just throwing punches. 🥊
