This is my amazing family celebrating Maarten’s birthday!
And 5 out of the 7 of us work in or for our company. The other two are over 75 otherwise, it might’ve been 7 out of 7. And my wonderful wife and kids weren’t there, or it would’ve been 6 out of 8, plus 2 future talents 😉
They say: “Never work with friends or family. Go for a walk with friends, not into business.”
Well… not in our case.
To be honest? Sometimes I get along better with my mom professionally than personally.
Sorry, Mom you’re amazing, but it’s true 😉
Maarten and I started the business 6.5 years ago.
Everyone thought we were nuts.
And now? Everyone’s involved. And that’s just beautiful.
Mom runs the finances, Karo handles marketing, and Emina takes care of audits.
Karo couldn’t make it that day two sick kids at home. That’s also hard work!
I consider it a blessing from above that we’re not just family we run a company together.
It feels right. It feels good. And we know that’s a rare gift. We treasure it every day.
And about working together…
Honestly, I don’t see it going wrong.
The trust and respect are unconditional.
We’ve already been through so much together in our personal lives.
Sounds dramatic, maybe, but it’s true when you’ve already learned that fighting doesn’t solve anything, you become more understanding.
At least, that’s been our experience.
Maybe this post is a bit emotional, sappy, or all over the place.
But it’s from the heart.
And that heart is what drives our life and our company.
