What we can learn from Steve Jobs: Vision over product

Inspiration for Building Trust and Relationships in B2B and B2C

13 August 2024 -

"Never push your proposition. Let your vision speak, just like Steve Jobs did."

Some inspiration after such a warm day 🥵 What can we learn from Steve Jobs?

The example of Steve Jobs

To start, isn’t it amazing to see that one of the greatest entrepreneurs himself takes inspiration from another top player, Nike. (01:33)

He shows that he admires and learns from the big brands and lets himself be inspired.

Apple also takes advice from a top marketing agency, and together with all the advice and examples from the best, they create a strategy they know will work. (02:31)

The importance of vision

It’s about having and showing your vision. In B2C, I still see this going wrong so often. Actually, more often than it goes right. Not to mention all of us here on LinkedIn in B2B.

What can we learn?

  • Never push your proposition. ⛔️ Just as Steve Jobs says: you shouldn’t show your product, but your vision.
  • In B2B, it’s about sharing your vision, your knowledge, your experiences, your advice, and your thought leadership. You are the knowledge leader, so show it.
  • In B2C, you are successful if you build an emotional connection with your customers. In B2B, you need to build relationships with your customers and gain their trust. Ultimately, it’s about the same thing.

What not to do

Don’t put at the bottom of your post, “Do you also want us to help you with this? Send me a DM or call me or email me.” No, no, no!

And don’t say, “At YouLynq.me we help companies with…” 🤦

I see it happening constantly; we really can’t help ourselves. We want to move too quickly towards success, and as a result, we cut corners and take completely the wrong turn…

Just listen to Steve, he knew a thing or two about it 🍏

Your opinion

What do you consider good content on LinkedIn, and what do you think about proposition posts vs vision and knowledge posts?
