Turning linkedin messages into clients

Build relationships, not quick pitches. here's how to transform your linkedin connections into paying clients.

"the reality is that 80% of your new clients come from conversations that are longer than 6 months."

I know, your LinkedIn messages aren’t turning into clients. Let me tell you something that might not surprise you.

When clients come to us, they’re all in on our vision of building relationships before selling. But when we dive into strategy, they almost always want to squeeze in their proposition too early. And I get it, it feels natural. But here’s the thing: that’s not how it works 🚫

Here’s the truth: new clients come from your warm network, not from a quick pitch in a LinkedIn message. You can’t sell anything in a first conversation. You can only start building a relationship. And guess what? That relationship will take time to develop and, eventually, turn into clients.

The key ingredient? Patience ⏳

Here’s what I’ve learned along the way and how you can approach this:
1️⃣ Change your mindset. Take a few steps back. Be prepared to go at a slower pace. Call to connect because you’re genuinely interested. Ask questions, listen actively and talk like two humans, not a salesperson with a script.
2️⃣ Be patient and consistent. Relationships take time and your first conversation isn’t the time to push your offer. It’s about building trust over time. Keep engaging with your network, follow up and build your conversations into something meaningful. Trust me, this requires strong administrative skills. Use a CRM, a Google Sheet or anything to track your conversations.

The reality is that 80% of your new clients come from conversations that are longer than 6 months. So, if you’re chasing easy wins, stop right now. This is a marathon, not a sprint 🏃‍♀️

It’s hard, consistent work, with genuine interest, that will lead to your success.

If you’re interested in diving deeper into this approach, I just launched a new podcast episode where I talk about building relationships, client strategies and the long-term mindset you need to succeed.

Think about your own journey, how many clients came from long-term conversations, not from a quick pitch?
