Loneliness at the workplace. Or actually: because of working from home. It’s really a thing.
We recently talked about this with the students of Utrecht University of Applied Sciences Commercial Economics during a guest lecture I had the pleasure of giving. Luckily, we weren’t lonely 😉, it was super interactive and fun.
The students were given the task to advise a startup student company (Teamworks) that helps SMEs make their employees feel less lonely. Because let’s be honest: ever since COVID, and with the rise of AI and the default of working online, many people feel increasingly isolated.
Working from home has countless advantages. But this is definitely one downside we shouldn’t ignore.
We explored how the startup can increase visibility, generate leads and attract clients using LinkedIn, of course.
It all starts with the basics: your profile, the company page, and your online presence.
Then comes the next step: using Sales Navigator and creating targeted prospect lists.
And last but not least: the tone of voice.
How do you approach people in a way that they want to respond, and don’t get annoyed by a sales pitch?
➡️ By building personal and authentic relationships
➡️ By having real conversations over coffee
➡️ By not diving in with your sales story right away
The beautiful thing? It came full circle: helping a company that wants to fight loneliness, to build stronger and more meaningful connections.
