Boost your LinkedIn Conversion with a Better Profile Picture

Here’s how to make your LinkedIn profile stand out

"A professional profile picture can boost your LinkedIn conversion by up to 50%!"

Your LinkedIn invite is up to 50% more likely to be accepted if you use a better profile photo! 💡

In the podcast with Ronnie Overgoor, I talked about the importance of a good and optimized LinkedIn profile. It sounds very simple, but I still see it going wrong so often. The importance of a good profile is greatly underestimated.

Think of your profile as a website. If your website has a lot of empty spaces and still displays the WordPress ad at the bottom, you’re not making a very professional impression. Potential clients won’t be too excited about your story.

Your LinkedIn profile is exactly the same, maybe even more important because more people see your profile than visit your website. If you don’t have a Background photo or featured section, a half-written headline, and a bunch of gray boxes instead of logos, you won’t make a professional impression. Show what you’ve got in terms of design, creativity, completeness, and, of course, content. Your profile should look good, and you should clearly highlight the relevance to your target audience.

Always ask yourself: Why would my prospect want to connect with me? If you can answer that, you’ll see your conversion rate improve significantly.

People judge your invite in a split second, and you only have one chance to make the right impression. It all starts with a good profile photo. We’ve measured up to a 50% improvement in conversion rates simply by having a good profile photo. Here’s what your profile picture should meet at a minimum:

  • 1️⃣ Use a professionally taken photo.
  • 2️⃣ Make sure your photo is zoomed in—people see your photo very small on their mobile.
  • 3️⃣ The most important tip: Look directly into the camera and show a big smile! Make sure you look likable so everyone instinctively wants to connect with you.

📸 Bonus tip: Preferably, don’t use a black-and-white photo.
