A Christmas tradition with my neighbor Han

On jazz, friendship, and how inspiring 78 years young can be

06 January 2026 -

"78 is an age to be proud of especially when you live like you’re in your twenties."

Went to our annual Christmas concert at the Concertgebouw again with my neighbor Han (78). This time, it was the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw.

Absolutely beautiful! The singers and conductor were from the US, the band from Europe and the chemistry between them? Truly impressive.

Every year, Han and I go to this Christmas concert together. We often do things concerts, bike rides, long walks but this evening is always the most special.
Christmas at the Concertgebouw, together. It just feels right.

We usually end up talking about my challenges at YouLynq.me, and Han always gives me valuable advice. He gets exactly what we’re doing.
He’s a former dentist, totally up to date, and sharp as ever on how the world is changing. As an entrepreneur, I find that incredibly inspiring.

And honestly… I really hope I’ll be as full of life and joy at his age.
He goes on multiple bike trips each year. He’s out and about in Amsterdam several times a week. Museums, walking, cycling, discovering. Amazing, right?

And yes, I know I’m not supposed to stereotype based on age.
But 78 is an age to be proud of when you live life like you’re in your twenties.
Or okay thirties. Maybe.

But definitely not more than that!
Because above all, we’re real friends.
We grab coffee and talk about the world. We host BBQs with the whole building, and he joins in fully thinking, discussing, enjoying. It’s the best.

Thank you, Han.
For your inspiration, your example, and your friendship.
